Our community is made up of families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, enriching our educational experience and nurturing a broad worldview. We are used to integrating children from different origins, offering them a space where they feel welcome and can thrive.
Our methodology is based on a holistic view of the human being—doing, feeling, and thinking. By integrating learning with lived experience, we support the child’s comprehensive development through a structured academic curriculum, emotional guidance, and a deep, living knowledge.
In the early years, we prioritize an environment that respects each child’s natural rhythm, allowing learning to emerge through imitation and free exploration. Our space is intentionally designed with natural materials and activities that support sensory, cognitive, and social development. Through free play, artistic expression, and connection with nature, children build solid foundations for healthy growth.
Our primary education proposal offers a comprehensive academic framework grounded in experience and active understanding. Through a curriculum organized in thematic blocks, children explore diverse areas of knowledge—from math and language to natural and social sciences.
We emphasize autonomy, critical thinking, and creativity. Artistic and hands-on experiences are integrated into daily learning, bridging theory and real life. Direct contact with nature and active experimentation are essential tools for building meaningful understanding.
English language learning is a fundamental part of our educational approach. From early childhood, children are immersed in the language through playful activities, songs, and storytelling, integrating it naturally into their daily rhythm.
In elementary grades, English classes are held daily and follow the Cambridge Global English program, adapted to our experiential and artistic methodology. We prioritize oral expression, dynamic learning, and creative immersion. As they progress, children strengthen reading skills and eventually explore literature to deepen both understanding and written expression.
Music is an essential element of Tierra Libre’s pedagogy, reflecting its central role in child development according to Waldorf education. From the earliest years, children engage in circle songs and seasonal verses that nurture imitation and joyful learning.
In the lower elementary grades, students begin with the pentatonic flute—suited for their stage of development—then gradually transition to the diatonic flute and ukulele. Music permeates not only our classes but also all community festivals and celebrations, enriching the yearly rhythm and reinforcing collective identity. This sequential, experience-based approach not only fosters musical skill, but also nourishes each child’s creativity, emotional life, and sense of belonging.
Movement is a vital expression of life at Tierra Libre. From early childhood, children explore the world through their bodies—running, climbing, jumping, and playing freely in natural surroundings that encourage exploration and connection.
In primary grades, movement takes on more intentional forms, such as parkour, practiced across all grades to develop willpower, balance, and self-confidence. In the lower grades, dance and expressive movement are also nurtured through rhythm and playful embodiment. Here, movement is more than physical activity—it becomes a path to personal growth, emotional well-being, and creative expression.
